Bromo Sunrise & Ijen Blue Fire

Arrive at Juanda International Airport (Surabaya) or Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport (Malang). Our team will greet you and, if arriving in Malang, take you on a short heritage walk along the famous Ijen Boulevard, a street lined with well-preserved Dutch colonial mansions, cafes, and vintage shops. After lunch, drive southeast towards the village of Lumajang (approx. 2-3 hours). Check into a local guesthouse near the waterfall. In the late afternoon, take a gentle walk to the viewpoint overlooking the magnificent Tumpak Sewu Waterfall for a first glimpse of this natural giant. Enjoy a hearty local dinner and an early night's rest—tomorrow starts early.

After breakfast, prepare for a full morning trek to the magnificent Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. Standing 120 meters tall, this curtain-like cascade is surrounded by lush tropical cliffs. You will trek down steep bamboo ladders, cross shallow rivers, and stand right in the spray of this natural giant—often called the "Niagara of Indonesia." Enjoy a picnic lunch by the river before returning to the guesthouse to freshen up.

In the afternoon, you will drive north to Cemoro Lawang (approx. 3 hours), the gateway village to Mount Bromo. Check into your mountain-view hotel and enjoy the cool evening air. Your guide will brief you on the early morning Bromo schedule. Overnight in Cemoro Lawang.

Wake up at 3:00 AM for a 4x4 jeep ride into the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Your driver will navigate the dark, winding roads to Penanjakan Hill, the most famous viewpoint in Indonesia. As the sun rises, watch the golden light paint the sky over a panorama of Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and the towering Mount Semeru in the distance. After sunrise, the jeep will descend into the vast Sea of Sand—a massive volcanic crater floor. From here, you will hike 200 steps up to the lip of Mount Bromo's active crater, peering down into the smoking abyss.

Continue your jeep safari across the Whispering Savanna, a golden grassland dotted with wild horses and deer, with Semeru looming behind. Stop for a photo session at the iconic "Bromo Jeep" viewpoints before returning to your hotel by late morning. Rest and enjoy a free afternoon in the cool mountain air of Cemoro Lawang. After a relaxed breakfast, check out of your hotel and drive east towards Banyuwangi (approx. 5-6 hours). On the way, stop at the Madakaripura Waterfall, hidden in a lush canyon near the foothills of Mount Bromo. This waterfall is unique—it cascades down from a height of 200 meters into a wide, mossy cavern, creating a dramatic and mystical atmosphere. You will trek 30 minutes through the river and alongside the cliff face to reach the main waterfall, feeling the cool spray on your face. It is said that this place was the meditation spot of Gajah Mada, the famous prime minister of the Majapahit Kingdom.

After the trek, continue the scenic drive to Banyuwangi, passing through coffee plantations and mountain villages. Check into your hotel, have a hearty dinner, and rest until midnight. Your guide will brief you on the Ijen trek and provide gas masks and headlamps for the adventure ahead.

At 11:30 PM, you will depart for a 30-minute drive to the base of Mount Ijen. The trek begins at 2:00 AM under a canopy of stars. You will hike 3 kilometers up a steep, rocky trail (around 1.5 to 2 hours) to reach the crater rim. As you descend slightly into the crater, you will be greeted by the surreal sight of electric-blue flames—sulfur gases igniting as they hit the air. Watch miners carry heavy sulfur baskets by hand as the sun rises, illuminating the largest acidic lake in the world, a breathtaking turquoise green. After the sunrise spectacle, you will trek back down and return to your hotel in Banyuwangi for a well-deserved hot shower and recovery sleep

Enjoy a leisurely morning recovering from the Ijen trek. After a late breakfast, drive to Pulau Merah (approx. 1 hour), a hidden beach paradise on the southern coast of Banyuwangi. This stunning beach gets its name from the red-hued hill that rises from the sand. You can relax on the pristine white sand, swim in the crystal-clear turquoise water, or climb the red hill for a panoramic view of the coastline. Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch at a local beachside restaurant.

Depending on your flight schedule, our team will transfer you to Banyuwangi Airport (Blimbingsari) or drive you back to Surabaya (approx. 4-5 hours) for your onward journey, ending your epic 6-day East Java expedition.
